We visited the Palacio Real (Royal Palace) today. I know it was a long line, but Dad waited while Bryce and I played. It started to hail a few times, and I tried to convince Dad that it would be half past midnight when we would get to the ticket booth. Eventually, (at about 3 PM) we got our tickets and toured the palace. We walked (and walked and walked and walked) through the royal plaza and rooms. My favorite part was the armory, where we saw all these cool swords and daggers. Me and Bryce played the what's-your-favorite-weapon/saddle/armor/-in-this-case game. Mom liked to tell us "This armor was made in the early 1800s and was used in the battle of Madrid...". I just kind of tuned her out. When we got out of the armory, we stepped into this room with awesome chandeliers. The rest was red curtains and silk and gold paint and all that. Not as cool as the armory.
One thing that almost (but not quite) beat the armory in coolness was the potato bean soup I had at the cafe. Today was also the first flan of Spain! It had raisins on the bottom, which was kind of gross, but it was really good!
