Madrid Style Lunch with Sarah

Sue's brother put us in contact with Sarah, a friend of his and vivacious 20-something American living here in Madrid. She has been here several months, and has gotten into the groove of how things work here, and agreed to meet us for lunch and take us to her favorite spots.

First stop was an outdoor cafe right outside the Plaza Mayor. The maitre'd knew her right away, and we got a great table, and ordered sangria and a tapas sampler.

Next, we meandered over to San Miguel market so the kids could get dessert, and then to a second place across from Palacio Real, where we ordered a really good stuffed ox tail dish.

Apparently, this is how you roll in Madrid: long, slow, leisurely lunches between 1:30 and 4 PM.  And you walk everywhere to work it off.
