After our afternoon in Gibraltar, we drove to Malaga to
spend the night. We arrived at 7:00,
which was just enough time to check in to our hotel and for the kids to get
their first swim in the Mediterranean.
The water was about as warm as Cadiz, and really calm. The
beach was slightly rocky – not quite the fine white sand in Cadiz. Nonetheless, both kids and I swam a little,
then came home to shower and hunt down dinner.
I had been to Malaga ten years ago, and while certain parts
were familiar, it seemed like a much bigger city now. I remembered a really
cute center area with no cars, and we found it and walked around for a bit while
searching for a dinner spot. Sue took
some great pictures of the cathedral at night.
Our meal was nothing special, but Malaga is really charming,
and I wish we had more time to spend there.
It reminded me of San Diego, and was squeaky clean to boot.
