Madrid's Metro

One thing that is really impressive about Madrid is the Metro system.  It's simple, reliable, and efficient. Even the kids find it easy to get around. We've used it several times already, and having this infrastructure in place really makes it easy to get anywhere in town.  We can even buy a ten use ticket, and share it amongst the four of us, repeatedly passing the same ticket through the turnstile.  They've thought of everything.

It's a pity that San Francisco has no such thing (earthquakes and all), as it would make my home city such a much better place to live.  Madrid's Centro has very few cars - it's mostly buses and taxis.  Why would you want a car anyway when the public transit is so good?
