Jet Lag - Arriving in Madrid

On the plane

Today is travel day, and it's become obvious that the kids have no idea about the ravages of jet lag. Bryce is wide awake playing Minecraft on the plane, at what is now 5 AM Madrid time. He has barely slept. Laurel has snoozed a little, but she will be a wreck unless she sleeps as well.

The kids seem to be rallying well. Sue didn't sleep at all, and she is very fastidious about her sleep, so we'll see what happens with her. Nevertheless, we get our luggage smoothly, and there is no customs so off we go to the taxi.

In Town

After being dropped off at our hotel, we decide to wander around and get something to eat. The kids are in good spirits, but Sue is bumping into things. She is making sure I am on task for getting money, and feeding our hungry clan. We successfully change money, and wind up at a little cafe, where we get hot chocolate, ham sandwiches, and a toasted bread with a tomato jam. Nothing spectacular, but the ham was really good.

Speaking of ham, Spain is known for its ham (jamon). Our taxi driver pointed us to a fast food chain called Museo de Jamon - or "Ham Museum". I made a mental note to visit this later.
